The effect of different abutment materials and designs on the mechanical stability of the prosthesis is discussed, with special emphasis given to comparison of titanium-zirconia abutments and traditional titanium abutments. In addition, this lecture considers the influence of different abutment materials and designs on the aesthetic outcomes. Finally, the pros and cons of cemented vs. screw-retained restorations are presented and evaluated based on current evidence.
